What is lead scoring?

Lead scoring ranks your leads by how likely they are to buy, so your team calls the best ones first.

01How it works

You give points for things that signal a good fit and real interest, and subtract points for poor fit. Leads above a threshold go to sales first.

02A simple starter model

SignalPoints
Company in your target industry+20
Decision-maker job title+15
Asked for pricing or a demo+30
Opened 3+ emails+10
Visited the pricing page+10
Student or personal email, no company-20
No activity for 30 days-15

Score 50 or more: call today. 25 to 49: nurture. Below 25: low priority.

03Mistakes to avoid

  • Too many criteria at the start. Begin with 5 to 7.
  • Never reviewing the model. Check monthly which scores actually closed.
  • Scoring without acting. A score is useless if nobody calls.

04In your CRM

Track the signals as fields and lifecycle stages on each contact, and segment by them. SuperForge's Data Forge lets you build segments, and Forge AI can brief you on a lead before you call.

05Questions

What is a good lead score?

It depends on your model. Pick a threshold, then adjust it based on which scores actually turn into customers.
